Kurven (selection) scanned prints 27 x 27 cm Borders are fascinating. Their proper definition is "immaterial curves", yet, they do shape and highly influence our material world. While I was stationed in Alto Adige, the Northeastern-most Italian province, I asked some locals to draw their regional borders right off the bat. Out of all Italian provinces, Alto Adige is the one that got annexed to Italy for last: 1919, in the aftermath of WWI. To this very day such key issues as regional identity, language, governmental power and responsibilities are constantly debated and spark heated confrontations with the province and on national level.
